Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• • A total of 27,314 CVs were registered last month—up 7.9% an May 2001, according to the latest figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).

That increase helped boost total CV registrations for the first five months of 2002 to 132,789—up 4.0% on the same period last year.

Light vehicle registrations rose 2,400 units in May compared with May 2001, with the main growth coming from the 2.6-3.5-tonne GVW sector. However, HGV sales continue to fall, with May's figure down almost 10% on last year at 4,109 units.

The SMMT now predicts total NOV registrations will be about 51,500 units this year.
