Ribble's assistant travel sales manager, Anthony Barraclough, is moving to National Bus' Northern region as regional travel sales manager. Although he has been with NBC since 1970 he has 24 years' experience in the travel trade. Having started with British Rail, he moved to Althams Travel Services in 1960 to gain management experience, before working for a Whitehaven agency. He joined Ribble as senior travel sales representative, and rose to his last position in November last year.
A major restructuring of the Duple International group has resulted in Duple (Metsec) Ltd managing director Richard West taking over from Alec Gibbins as managing director of Duple Coachbuilders Ltd. Mr Gibbins, who has eight years' experience in his present post, is taking on the managing directorship of Duple Services Ltd, a new company which has been formed to run the Blackpool, London, and Barrhead (Glasgow) service centres formerly run by the coachbuilding company. Jeremy Stoke, Metsec's commercial director, is taking over from Mr West.
National Tyre Service (Garage Equipment) Ltd manager Bernard Judkins has been elected president of the Garage Equipment Association. He has been a member of the GEA council since 1975, and, prior to his recent election, was senior vicepresident (distributor) and chairman of the publicity committee.
Edinburgh-based Bedford dealer SMT Sales and Service is losing the services of managing director Reid Jack, who retires early at the end of this month, to become a consultant to SMT. A noted amateur golfer, Mr Jack has been in his present post for nine years, and is being replaced by one-time racing-car driver Bill Dryden, the company's commercial vehicle sales manager, and a director of SMT.for 18 months.
