DUR1NG the first five months of this year, Leyland Motors, Ltd., exported 5 per cent. more goods than in the corresponding period of 1951, and 9.4 per cent, more than in 1950. Demand for the Royal Tiger chassis was largely responsible for this increase.

There has also been a rise in the rate of home deliveries of heavy-duty goods models, of which .145 percent. more left Leyland in the first five months of this year for the home market than in the same period of 1951.

Coras Iompair Eireann has ordered 88 Royal Tiger chassis. These will be C.I.E.'s first uncprfloor-engined vehicles in its 90-per-cent. Leyland bus fleet. It is understood that the Royal Tigers will be worked on both urban and rural routes. The chassis will be delivered to Dublin in completely knocked-down form and will be fitted with 8-ft. wide bodies by the operator.

The Birmingham and Midland Motor Omnibus Co., Ltd., has ?lailed an order worth about £500,000 for 100 Leyland double-deckers. The 8-ft.-wide bodies will be basically similar to Leyland standard products, but will be modified externally to 13.M.M.O. requirements. The specification includes a new frontal appearance and a totally enclosed rear platform with power-operated jackknife doors.

Heating will be provided in both upper. and lower saloons and the roofs will be insulated with Isoflex. Batteries will be mounted underneath the staircase with access from outside•by opening a panel.
