OUT of 3,534 breakdowns in the Mersey 'funnel last year, 545 were attributable to tyre trouble. Inflation equipment has now been. installed at the entrances and vehicles will be called in to have their tyres pumped up if this appears necessary.
Running out of petrol is the chief cause of hold-ups and petrol will now be sold at the entrances, A total of over 6m. vehicles used the tunnel in 1951.
