Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Smooth and noiseless — that is how members of the London Transport Passengers' Committee described their ride on Leyland National and Metro-Scania which are to enter service with LT later this year. Six "quiet" versions of each model will operate route S2 in East London. The Scanias will start operating very shortly and will be joined by the LNs before long, an LT spokesman said this week.

Members of the committee thought that the Scania was the quieter vehicle with less vibration, according to a report published this week. They found both vehicles were superior in general interior design and passenger convenience than current single-deckers operating in London. Although the buses seemed easier to enter than existing models the committee members would have preferred a flat floor rather than having a step to the rear compartment. Side-mounted destination indicators were "essential" to give proper passenger information.
