Roy Wild has been appointed chief engineer of Atkinson Vehicles Ltd. He succeeds Steve Oxley who leaves the company after 18 years service to take up a post with a newly formed company within the industry. Mr Wild was formerly an assistant to Walter Booth, the chief engineer of Seddon.

Steve Grant, 26, has been appointed divisional manager at Well (Northants) for United Carriers. Mr Grant is the son of Bill Grant a former director of Grants Transport Services Ltd, which was acquired by United Carriers in 1964. Mr Grant Jnr moves to Wellingborough from United Carriers Scottish division at Bellshill (Lanarks) where for the past year he has been assistant manager.

J. E. Rayner has been promoted manager of Burmah-Castras motor vehicles department. He succeeds R. W. Gibson who retires after 43 years with the company.

Alan Dix, 51, the former managing director of Volkswagen (GB), has returned to the UK as marketing director of British Leyland International after 16 months in the USA. The position is a new one. Mr Dix's gives him overall marketing responsibility for all BLMC products outside the UK.

Geoffrey Markham, 26, has been appointed financial controller, RenTco Nationwide Trailer Rentals Ltd. He moves from profit planning manager Crane Fruehauf Ltd, Dereham Norfolk, to this subsidiary company's Hayes, Middlesex office. He joined CF from Ford in 1971.

R. J. Hough has been elected chairman of the Sussex section of the Chartered Institute of Transport in succession to A. A. Coates; J. H. Maydew and G. E. Gains are senior vice-chairmen; C. F. Bish is treasurer; K. A. S. Dickie secretary.

Robert Smith, garage equipment manager of National Tyre Service Ltd, has been elected president of the Garage Equipment Association. He succeeds, Roy A. Scenes, managing director of Tecalemit Garage Equipment Ltd, of Plymouth. Two new vice-presidents have also been elected. They are Richard Frater, md of Kismet Ltd, who succeeds Jack Bushnell of Crypton-Tri angle as manufacturer vice-president, and Gilbert Burton, md of Johnson Burton Theobald, of Norwich, who takes over from Mr Smith as distributor vicepresident. Geoffrey Musgrove of IngersollRand is treasurer.

C. E. Groves, 34, for the past five years experimental engineer in charge of vehicle and trailer development for Scammell Motors, has joined DAF Trucks (GB) Ltd as technical sales engineer. A. J. M. Glennie, 28, from Ford, has joined DAF as marketing services manager. Neville A. J. Conley has been appointed managing director of Brown Brothers Ltd. For the past 17 years he has been an executive with 3M United Kingdom Ltd. Mr Conley succeeds E. G. Spearing, who, in his position as deputy chief executive of Brown Brothers & Albany, will now be able to devote more time to future development of the group.

A. W. Wright, 52, moves up from deputy to Regional Controller (Roads and Transportation), South West Region. He will take up his appointment on September 1 in succession to J. A. S. pokers, who is retiring. Mr Wright joined the former MoT in 1955.

Derek Barlow has been appointed works manager of Barham Bodies Ltd, Northampton. From 1969 to 1971 he was works manager of the Tees division of the York Trailer Co Ltd.

P. Osborne, 45, has joined Small and Parkes Ltd, manufacturer of Don brake linings, as managing director, from the York Trailer Co Ltd. A. A. Glynn, 40, from Oldham Batteries, becomes marketing manager.

Walter Taylor, 44, has been appointed to the new post of financial controller of Edbro (Holdings) Ltd. For the past eight years, Mr Taylor has been financial director of Henry Crossley (Packings) Ltd, Bolton.

N. E. W. Foley has been appointed UK sales manager of Esquire Kleindienst & Co Ltd; for the past eight years he has worked for Esso,Petroleum.

Alan G. Darnell becomes the southern region sales manager of the truck equipment division of Braby Group Ltd, Liverpool.

Alan S. Rolls, 33, becomes assistant traffic manager (planning) with Crosville Motor Services Ltd on September 1. He is at present assistant traffic manager with Southern Vectis Co Ltd.

The Martin Walter Group has announced the resignation from the group board of David Tapley, and from the board of Dormobiie Ltd the resignation of David Tapley and Clive Sumner. J. W. Sutton, the group md, will now assume additionally the responsibilities of the red of Dormobile Ltd.
