• The Department of the Environment proposes to abolish the prescribed interval of a month before an unsuccessful candidate for an hgv test can be retested.
Operators have pressed for this enforced delay to be abolished, particularly because of the chronic driver shortage. The DoE agrees that some professional drivers undergoing full-time courses can correct their faults to reach the test standard in less than a month.
