A MONG the vehicles to be exhibited PA. at The Commercial Motor Show in September by Fodens, Ltd., will be an FETU6/25 four-wheeled tractive unit with the as-yet-unannounced Mk. VII turbocharged six-cylinder .two-stroke diesel engine, this being a large-bore version of the 210-b.h.p. Mk. IV turbocharged engine. The tractive unit, which has a seven-speed gearbox, will have a plastics cab with sleeping compartment.

Another innovation will be an eightwheeler with tilt cab and Michelin 10.0022.5 tyre equipment. The specification includes the Mk. VI engine, 12-speed gearbox, and single-drive two-spring rear bouie.

Western Welsh Results

THE financial results obtained by the Western Welsh Omnibus Co., Ltd., in the year ended March 31 last were extremely poor, said Mr. E. L. Taylor, company chairman, at the annual general meeting on Tuesday. Net profit was £.70,004, less than half that attained in the previous year which was itself not a good one. Traffic recession, he said, ha0 been severe and stage carriage revenue fell £124,000 short of the expected total

By contrast, extended tours showed 12 per cent increase over 1960.

Meanwhile, the week before the annual general meeting the company had been granted permission by the South Wales Licensing Authority, Mr. R. R. Jackson, 10 make cuts in many services.

The cuts are expected to save the company 350,000 miles and £23,000 per year.

C-LICENSED OPERATOR FINED WHETHER the soil from a sugar beet VV factory transported by lorries of demolition contractors had become their own property was a point at York on Monday when A. Ogden and Sons, Ltd., demolition contractors, of Cross Green, Vtley, faced 24 summonses for failing to comply with the conditions of C licences. and five of using uninsured vehicles. They denied all the charges.

Mr. J. S. Jenkinson. prosecuting, said the firm was engaged in carrying soil from a sugar works in York to a Northern Command firing range at Strensall, near York.

Mr. J. R. Waite, defending, said that the sugar works had millions of tons of soil free for the carting. He declared that once his clients had collected the soil it became their property, and was therefore covered for carriage by C licences.

The firm were fined £48 on the 24 summonses for failing to comply with the conditions of C goods licences, and a further £15 for using uninsured vehicles.
