Mr. A. C. Potter, Coventry branch manager of British Road Services, Ltd., has been appointed transport manager of Morton's (Coventry), Ltd., the transport contractors, with effect from August 13.
Mr. J. Harrison, transport manager of the Austin Motor Co., Ltd., Longbridge, has been appointed to the national council of the Traders Road Transport Association.
Mr. L Bloomfield, managing director of Barking Garage and Engineering Co., Ltd., has been appointed chairman of the board of management of the National Chamber of Trade. He is a past president of that organization.
Mr. G. A. Long, at present manager of the Power Petroleum Company's North Western Division, has been appointed manager of the company's London Division. He joined the company in 1949. Mr. Long takes up his new appointment on September 1, 1962.
In view of his advancing years, Mr. A. B. Griffiths has expressed the wish to retire from the board of Kennings, Ltd., at the next annual general meeting. Mr. A. M. Mackintosh, a director of Brown Bros., Ltd., and formerly general manager (sales) of Shell-Mex and B.P., Ltd., has been appointed to the board.
Mr. A, Thomson, who has been accountant of Western S.M.T. Co., Ltd.. since 1950, has been appointed to succeed the late Mr. R. McWhirter as secretary of the company. In 'l 948 Mr. Thomson became secretary of the Caledonian Omnibus Co., Dumfries. and retained thaz post until the Caledonian company was merged with Western in 1950.
Mr. P. F. Jones has been appointed general manager of The Helenwood Engineering Co., Ltd. Mr. Jones. who is a director of P. F. Jones (Diesel Services), Ltd., and Metaloy (Cheshire), Ltd., was formerly divisional engineer, B.R.S. Mr. R. G. Mercer has been appointed sales manager of Helenwood Engineering. He was for 25 years on the sales staff of Burtonwood Engineering Co., Ltd. Mr. J. L. Hinders, for the last five years in charge of Firestone's South London division, has been appointed manager of a new Firestone national accounts division.
Herr Hans Baling, of Hamburg, has been re-elected for a further three-year term as chairman of the West German
short distance hauliers' association, Arbeitsgemeinschaft Goternahverkehr e.V,
London Transport announce that, following the retirement. of Mr. D. P. Cotmihan, traffic superintendent (Central Road Services), Mr. G. J. Dickins, traffic development officer in the department of the chief commercial officer, has been appointed traffic officer (Central Buses) in the department of the Operating Manager (Central Buses) with effect from July 2. Also announced are new appointments in the department of the chief commercial and public relations officer, with effect from July 2. Mr. J. D. C. Churchill, planning officer, has been appointed commercial officer. He will report to the chief commercial and public relations officer, Mr. R. M. Robbins, in respect of commercial and sales policy, fares and charges, and, with the operating managers, the general co-ordination, level and pattern of the services, in addition. to the duties of his present post of Planning Officer, Mr. W. C. Parrott has been appointed principal executive assistant in the office of the fares and charges officer.
Mr. D. McDonald, who recently joined Clayton Dewandre Co.. Ltd., has taken up his duties as representative in Scotland.
