Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

CHEPSTOW-BASED transport company MCL Logistics has struck a hire purchase deal for six used DAF trucks for a new steel contract.

The main reason behind selecting used trucks, says MCL Logistics MD James Howells, is the purchase price. The DAF XF95 trucks cost £14,000 each and with the trucks written off over three years through depreciation, they represented very good business.

MCL Logistics will use the trucks on a steel contract following the reopening of the former Alpha Steels' site in Newport by Mir Steels (UK), a subsidiary of Russian steel company Mechel.

The 55-plate, 6x2 430hp Space Cabs will be maintained by the company. Some of the vehicles will be used by trampers, while the other vehicles will be double shifted by drivers operating closer to home over the next three years. Howells expects each truck to cover more than 200,000km a year.

Howells praised the Newport branch of DAF dealer Watts Truck & Van, and says he is looking to place an order for an additional six vehicles over the next three months.
