'THE importance of bus head-lamps 1 being equipped to give a beam as powerful as that of the ordinary car was emphasised by Mr. jessel Rycroft (Manchester City Coroner) in his annual report.
He had been informed that there were about 300 drivers in the locality• of Manchester on the sick list and he expected that Most of the cases were due to nervous strain. Speaking as one who drove regularly in the blackout in Manchester, he felt that the conditions were a continuous nightmare.
SPEAKING TUBE ON BUS
ASPEAKING tube has been fitted in the driver's cab of one of the buses of the Scottish Motor Traction , Co., Ltd., to enable the driver to announce each stopping place. The facility is said to have been appreciated by passengers in the black-out, and there is a -passibility that other vehicles will be similarly equipped.
