Welsh Opposition to Mobile Shops.

Some opposition to mobile shops is being shown in certain parts of Wales. Liwchwr Urban District Council recently alleged that these vehicles were taking away the trade of shopkeepers and asked Glamorgan County Council to deal with the situation, but the county authority points out that often mobile shops are operated by stores. Llwchwr Council now urges the chief constable to prosecute users on the ground of inconvenience caused by the vehicles remaining in one place for appreciable periods.

The Llanelly authority is tackling the situation from the point of view of the municipal market, and it is proposed to exercise the council's right to collect a toll of £2 from each vendor of certain commodities that are sold on the road. It is stated that, under a by-law, the council is entitled to take such action.
