Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

This is a problem which applies to most automatic and semi-automatic gearboxes currently available on the British market. The reason is a simple one connected with the gearbox lubrication system. The oil pump for the gearbox is usually driven off the input shaft from the engine, so is not turned when the vehicle is being towed. The gearbox is not lubricated and will eventually seize up.
