Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

mOW that side and tail lamps have been reduced to a glimmer and are not supposed to be visible for more than 300 yds., it is criminal to park on the carriageway at night unless no other course is possible. It is appreciated that drivers must have their statutory rest by day or by night, but it is recommended that, when parking vehicles at night on that account, they should use public-houses or cafes, which have parking places off the road where lorries can be left. In that way the risk

of collisions with parked vehicles is avoided.

Carelessness in this matter on the part of the driver may mean not only grave risks to a fellow-driver, but also that two vehicles have to be withdrawn from service at a time when every transport unit is vitally necessary to the war effort. It is suggested that all operators should post a notice to this effect in a place where their drivers cannot possibly fail to observe it.
