Leggett's jobs saved as firm finds new buyer

SUFFOLK HAULIER Leggett's Transport Ltd is to continue trading after a buyer was found for the 91-year-old business.

The firm went into administration on 3 July, putting nearly 70 jobs at risk, the potential buyer loaned administrators Smith & Williamson more than £500,000 to allow the business to continue trading while the sale was negotiated.

The few owned assets and the right to use the Leggett's Transport name has been sold to Marmex Ltd, a company that was incorporated at Companies House on 22 June 2009.

Administrators Srhtth & Williamson notes that a majority of the firm's assets, including the property had been sold in order to finance continued trading before its involvement.
