LDV in 'exclusive' talks with potential unidentified buyer

LDV HAS entered talks with one potential buyer on an exclusive basis, following its entry into administration in June.

A spokeswoman for LDV's administrator, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), says: "It would not he appropriate to comment further on the identity of the proposed purchaser at this time, given the confidentiality agreements in place."

PwC said a Birmingham-based manufacturer was considering its options for restarting some production at the Washwood Heath factory. but nothing is confirmed.

At the beginning of May, Weststar agreed to buy LDV from owner GAZ, subject to due diligence. Following the agreement, the government made available £5m in bridging loans to facilitate the changeover, but the deal fell through.

Nearly all of LDV's 850 employees were made redundant in June, following Weststar's failure to raise the £45m needed to purchase the company.
