Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE RETAIL MOTOR Industry Federation (RMIF) is warning vehicle dealers that they face a £200 on-the-spot fine if they're caught using a low-loader trailer behind their tow vehicle if it is not fitted with a tachograph.

While the law has been in operation for several years, the financial penalty has only just been introduced by VOSA as part of the graduated fixed penalties scheme, which was introduced on 28 May.

The law states that a tow vehicle must be fitted with a tacho when the gross combination weight the combined weight of the vehicle and trailer is more than 3,500kg.

Sue Robinson, RM1F director, says: "A number of dealers have already been fined for operating their low-loaders without a tacho."
