• Welshpool-based David Bebb has had the authorisation on his licence reduced from five to four vehicles until he sorts out his maintenance system and records. Rebb was called before South Wales Traffic Commissioner David Dixon following an unsatisfactory maintenance investigation. Vehicle examiner Malcolm Yeomans said he inspected two vehicles and a trailer in May, issuing a delayed prohibition for a cut tyre and a broken axle bearing. There were also problems with the maintenance records, including gaps of up to 12 weeks for some vehicles. No mileages were recorded; there was no forward planning or driver defect reporting system and the maintenance facilities were "frugal".

Bebb told the Commissioner that he had erected a large shed which was available to his vehicles on all but three weeks of the year during the lambing season. The vehicles covered as little as 3,000 miles a year; they were used to haul timber and livestock.
