The Friends of the Earth have joined the groups of non-experts who are putting up proposals to solve Britain's transport problems. They think the answer is to minimise the need to move and stimulate short journeys. Sounds great, but how do you do it? Grow your own sunshine breakfast, keep your own sheep for the wool, return to the days when people lived next to their factories and didn't go off to Southend, Ayr, Blackpool or Berwick for a holiday?
