Would Drivers Like Combat Training Against Lorry Thieves?
SOME drivers are being congratulated for their successful attempts at resisting the
" high jacking " of their vehicles and/or loads. This brings to mind the thought that some arrangements might be made for instituting training in self-defence for drivers and their mates. The men concerned might appreciate such instruction. There are plenty who have served as commandos and who might be pleased to help in this way Even some aggressive thieves would be surprised if they were treated to demonstrations of this nature. Incidentally, a heavy spanner convenient to the driver's hand makes an excellent protective weapon.

Former M.T. Home Guards Win Special Cup for Shooting.
as the " Dale," is shot for annually with service rifles by former members of the Cambridge Home Guard Companies. On July 25, the cup was won for the fourth time in succession by 2007 M.T. Coy., H.6., which obtained a clear lead over its opponents, scoring 64 more points than last year, when it also won comfortably. This represented an average score of 52 per man, the highest possible being 80. The company was originally formed very largely by R.H.A. members and their drivers, under the command of Major Dickerson, a well-known Cambridge haulier It had platoons at Ely and Wisbech, but the headquarters, No. 1 and workshop platoons were at Cambridge. It is notable that whilst other former H.G. Companies are experiencing difficulty in assembling teams to compete for the cup, no such trouble has been found in the case of this M.T Coy.—in fact, one member came from Cromer, where he now works It is hoped that the Dale Cup will repose for a long time on the mantelpiece in the Eastern Area office of the R H A.

watched with interest the production of inner tubes, this process requiring a " line " 300-400 yds. in length The high-quality rubber employed is extruded, and the tube squirts out of the dies almost like a long sausage skin. Our surprise was mainly, however, to learn that a black tube is definitely better than a red, although for some reason many users insist on the latter. Is this a matter of xsthetics, or is it that they think that rubber ought to be this colour?
