Municipal Section to be Removed and Garage Equipment to be Restored at Earls Court. Some 400 Stands to Interest Visitors

THIS year's Commercial Motor Show 1 is likely to surpass . all others. Manufacturers are taking advantage of the added public attraction of a new venue—new as a site of the exhibition and new in construction—with the result that a considerably larger number of exhibitors may be expected than at the Show of two years ago.

From November 4-13, Earls Court— that magnificent exhibition building with a rentable floor area of 450,000 sq. ft.—will house some 400 stands of keen interest to all commercial-vehicle users.

It will be recalled that vehicle and bodywork exhibits at the 1935 Show Were separated from the municipal appliances, which had a corner of their thvn. This year the practice of preVirMs years is to be resumed and municipal outfits will be included among the general exhibits of vehicles.

Another change concerns exhibits c,f garage equipment. At the Show of tw:o years ago; the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders tried the experiment of replacing the equipment section by one for municipal vehiclei. The service appliances were 'featured, instead, at the Motor Show.

This action caused some disappointment and this year we shall see the garage equipment back in its old place in the Commercial Motor Show. The operation of the Road and Rail Traffic Act emphasizes the importance of vehicle maintenance and the equipment section thereby assumes considerable added interest.

The preliminary Est of exhibitors issued by the S.M.M. and T. shows 95 stands for manufacturers of vehicles and bodywork. The Show of 1935 included some 88 exhibitors of vehicles and bodywork and abc■irt a dozen stands in the municipal section, making a total of 100. As, in some .cases, stands were duplicated in the two sections, the number of exhibitors is, in fact, unlikely to be smaller this year.

The number of stands devoted to accessories and components shows an advance from about 220 to 225, but, in addition, the forthcoming event will include 48 makers of garage and service equipment, so that there will be an appreciable increase in the total number of stands.

The tyre section will remain constant, with 13 stands, whilst seven publishers of motoring journals and eight associations will be represented. Among the associations will be the British Road Federation, Associated Road Operators, Commercial Motor Users Association, Institution of Automobile Engineers nd Motor Agents Association.

The accompanying list contains the names and stand numbers of the exhibitors in the vehicle and bodywork section, where all the leading manufacturers will be represented.

As usual, the Show will 1,e thoroughly covered by four Special Numbers of The Commercial Motor, lavishly illustrated and much enlarged.
