Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Cab design progresses with every new model, and the ingenuity shown here was admirable. The radical single-driver Renault Premium impressed everybody who tried it, and the Scania (despite being a standard-roof model) showed the largest cabs how good build and ride quality can be.

But it was those large, Continent-crunching cabs that we wanted to see, and they didn't disappoint: any one of them would be comfortable for a week or two away. The Iveco had good features but, as in previous years, we were disappointed by Its build quality and use of space, The Volvo was built more solidly, but can't quite match the best for space. It's the Mercedes, the Daf and the brandnew MAN that take top honours. The Actros is innovative and spacious, but we are not entirely convinced by its build quality; the Oaf is less ambitious, but attractive and terrifically refined; there's hardly anything to criticise.

And what about the new MAN? This pre-production model had a couple of teething troubles (and we thought it unfair to test its ride), but it has the makings of a very good cab, with driver-friendly cab access and sensible features. Not a winner yet-but it could be.
