• Increased wage rates for bus crews and maintenance men of company-owned bus undertakings have been accepted by the TGWU and the A EWU.
The new rates — proposed by the National Council for the Omnibus Industry — will increase o-m-o drivers' wages by £1.84 per week to £23.40. Crew-drivers will get £1.73 more, bringing their weekly wage to £20.48. And conductors will get an increase of £1.71 to £19.91.
The flat rate weekly shift allowance for maintenance workers will go up by £1.88 giving them a weekly wage of £24. Originally, the AEWU wanted a weekly wage of £26 for members.
A spokesman for the NCOI said: "As far as we are aware, the proposals were accepted at a delegates meeting last week."
