THE decisions of the Benelux Council of Ministers to abolish in stages the quantitative limitations on bordercrossing goods transport between Belgium, Holland and Luxembourg have now been ratified. The first stage removes controls from loads up to 0.5 metric ton and certain commodities, but by November I this year all quantitative controls on inter-Benelux goods traffic will have been abolished.

COMMON MARKET ROAD TRANSPORT SURVEY

THE structure of current and future 1 road transport within the European Common Market is to be the subject of a scientifically planned survey, it is announced in Brussels. Preparations for the carrying out of the survey are to be made by a working party to meet for the first time in Brussels in June. Initially, the survey will be centred on certain main roads crossing international land borders.

PARK GOODS VEHICLES OFF STREETS OWNERS of commercial vehicles should have to provide off-street parking for them overnight: this is one of the recommendations in a report to be submitted to the Minister of Transport by the engineers and surveyors of London's' Metropolitan Boroughs. They also urge a return to obligatory lights on parked vehicles at night.
