Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A PRACTICAL fitment for the Albion Chieftain chassis,

which calls for no structural alterations, is a combined bumper and towing bar. It has been designed and fitted in the workshops of the operators, Road Services (Forth). Ltd., M unga lend, Falkirk.

As the model concerned had no form of protection in front, the idea was conceived of carrying the towbar. across the front of the vehicle, where it would function as a bumper. The existing bolts securing the spring brackets to the frame can he used to secure the extended brackets which support the bumper.

To use the bumper for towing purposes, its securing pins are removed, and one of the eye ends of the bar is pinned in one of the supporting brackets, the other end being similarly secured to the towing vehicle.

Although shown applied to an Albion Chieftain, the idea lends itself ter practically any make of chassis. Even where a bumper is fitted on the standard vehicle, the scheme is so practical that some operators may think it worth while to replace the existing bumper with this dual-purpose bar. All the parts could be made in the operator's workshop.
