Ma. A. G. M ARSDEN, transport adviser to the board of Unilever, Ltd., has been elected a councillor of the International Road Federation. He is. president of the Commission of Transport Users of the International Chamber of Commerce, and chairman of the transport users' policy committee of the Federation of British Industries.

MR. T. T. SHEPH ARD, rolling stock engineer (road services) of London Transport, retires tomorrow. He started his career with the London General concern in 1924_ His successor is MR. K. G. SHAVE, at present north-cast divisional engineer, central road services. He is a son of the late MR. GEORGE SHAVE, former chief engineer and operating manager of London General.

NEW MEMBERS FOR LONDON COMMITTEE

SEVEN new members have been appointed to the Transport Users Consultative Committee for the London Area. The committee have now entered their third term of office. Mr. J. Fitzgerald is chairman.

The new members are: Mrs. A. E.

O'Connor (London Co operative Society); Mr. H. T. Parkin (director of Lep Transport, Ltd., and other companies); Mr. H. Pearce (traffic manager, Electrolux, Ltd.); Mr. A. R. Akers (Confederation of Health Service Employees); Mr. R. Edmonds (London County Council); Ald, H. W. Turner (Tottenham Borough Council), and Mr, E. W. Arkle (chief commercial manager, London Midland Region, British Railways).

ONE-MAN-BUS DRIVER ASKED TO RESIGN

MEMBERS of the local branch of the Transport and General Workers' Union have asked for the resignation of their chairman, Mr. W. Deary, who has volunteered to drive the first oneman bus which the Eastern Counties Omnibus Co., Ltd., have introduced in the Cromer area.

In spite of an assurance by the company, the branch members fear redundancy. An Eastern Counties spokesman said they were short of conductors at most of their depots.
