According to a report lately to hand from Tokyo, the old stock of commercial vehicles imported during the period of the temporary remission of duty, immediately following the 1923 earthquake, are gradually being worked off, present estimates indicating that there are only about 100 such lorries remaining on hand. There is a brisk demand for light delivery vehicles, whilst it is expected that the widening of the principal streets of Tokyo, operations on which have recently been commenced, will provide an additional market for all kinds of commercial vehicle in connection with the extensive building operations that have been projected.

A. Dennis Fleet Overseas.

The 21F-ton Dennis lorry which is shown in an illustration on this page covered 17,000 miles in the service of Motor Transport (Uganda) Ltd. before it was used in conjunction with a trailer. In recording this mileage, the vehicle dealt with a pay load of 6,000 tons. Since the trailer has been hauled, a further 5,009 miles have been run, and, in spite of the fact that 2i tons have been carried on the trailer as well as on the hauling vehicle, the outfit has given good savice. The users have two other vehicles of the same make in their service, and the three lorries have run an aggregate mileage of 38,000.

Dennis Bros., Ltd., of Guildford, have just received, along with the picture we reproduce, a letter in which it is stated that : "No difficulty whatever has been experienced (with the three vehicles) and there has not been a single involuntary stop."

Although the principle of overloading is not to be advocated, we think the information supplied by the company's agents in Kenya speaks well for the sturdiness and power of Dennis productions and of their suitability for operating under overseas conditions.
