The TGS 440 6x2 tractor is the pet-reg vehicle of choice. Around 85% sold are fitted with a day cab, a 5-tonne mid-axle, pumping gear, aluminium wheels and air tanks, small fuel tank, Tipmatic transmission, fixed fifth wheel, and lighter front axle with single spring. It is 370kg lighter than a standard equivalent for dry freight. Mark Price is looking for further improvements with more safety and driver aids, and has invested in a demo truck. “It is fitted with electronic stability control [ESC], more operators are looking to take that on because it’s a safety feature for roll over. It also has lane guard and adaptive cruise control,” he says.
