He was appointed manager of National Benzole's Northern division in 1948, and came lo the company's headquarters in 1953. Mr. K. V. Davies, a senior representative of Joseph Lucas (Export), Ltd., is to leave London on September 11 for a four-week visit to Norway.

Mr. Leslie V. Home has been appointed works director of the Eccleston, St. Helens, factory of the Triplex Safety Glass Co., Ltd., in succession to Mr. H. Irwin, who is retiring.

Mr. A. D. Holland has been appointed divisional road engineer, north midland division, Ministry of Transport, in succession to Mr. L. W. H. Savage, who is to retire on September 15.

Mr. J. R. Hudson, joint managing director of the Moss Gear Co., Ltd., has retired from the board after 43 years' service with the company. Mr. E. Cars. previously works director, becomes joint managing director.

Mr. R. R. Hughes has been appointed technical sales representative in the Essex area, for Veedol (U.K.), Ltd. Mr. J. Thomas will cover North-West London and the Home Counties in a similar capacity, and Mr. G. H. Stone will covet Birmingham.

Mr. E. .1. Sims, has been appointed manager of the bitumen department. Esso Petroleum Co., Ltd., in succession to Mr. M. .1. Aldrick, who has relinquished the position for health reasons. Mr. H. T. Pullen has been appointed assistant manager. Mr. H. A. Holden, manager of the metal finishing division, Pyrene Co., Ltd., has been appointed a director of the division. Mr. C. A. G. Naughten, manager of the bumper department, has been appointed a divisional director (vehicle components).

Mr. R. A. Bryce, joint general manager (sales) of the Ever Ready Co. (Great Britain). Ltd., is to resign on December 31, to emigrate to Australia. Mr. A. F. Leith, manager. London sales office, has been appointed company sales manager from today.

Sir Leonard Sinclair is to retire at the end of this month as a member of the British Transport Commission. He was formerly chairman of the Esso Petroleum Co., Ltd„ and has been a part-time member of the Commission since September, 1958.

Mr. R. G. S. Hoare, chief information officer of the Ministry of Transport, is to be chief information officer at the Ministry of Pensions and National Insurance. He will be succeeded at !he Ministry of Transport by Mr. F. D. Bickerton, the present Ministry of Pensions information officer.

Obituary

We regret to record the death of Mr. J. P. McLennan, Mr. McLennan was sales manager of the Chiswick depot of Spurling Motors (Chiswick), Ltd. He was 58 years old and joined Spurlings in 1931. Except for war service and a short period afterwards, he had been with Spurlings ever since.
