• A new, fast turn-round depot has been built on Merseyside for WHS Transport Ltd in only 30 weeks under a "design and build" package deal contract carried out by Mears Construction Ltd, Bromborough, Cheshire, in association with W. H. Smith and Sons Ltd architects department.
The contract demanded the erection and completion of a single storey workshop and stores building of approximately 12,000 sq ft, a two-storey prefabricated office of 4000 sq ft and a single-storey prefabricated gatehouse, together with parking area, drainage, fencing, gates and ancillary works.
With a fleet of 125 vehicles, WHS Transport operates an early morning and late afternoon newspaper delivery service, with an express parcels delivery throughout the North West during the intervening time.
Vehicle servicing and repair facilities are offered to other companies.
The new depot of WHS Transport Ltd is in Redfern Street, Bankhall, Liverpool L20 8JB.
