IN the absence of key witnesses. an 1 application by Mr. S. W. J. Ostle, of Kirkby Stephen, Westmorland, for a variation of an A licence by the addition of a 3f-ton anic was refused by the Northern Licensing Authority, Mr. J. A. T. Hanlon, last. week. On the evidence before him, Mr. Hanlon said he could not make a grant, but Ostle could apply again and ask for an inquiry nearer Middlesbrough. when perhaps Stillite would send a representative. The LA, however, renewed Ostle's present A licence.
