Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

riA MAJOR reorganization of services in the Herne Bay area of Kent was undertaken by the East Kent Road Car Co. Ltd. last week. Main purposes of the exercise were to give a more regular frequency on the Herne Bay town services.. serve new housing estates in the area, meet requests for a direct service between Herne and Herne Bay station. and also to meet reauests for a direct through service between Hillborough. Beltinge and Canterbury. Other features of the revised services, which have been introduced for a trial period, include improved connections with trains at stations along the routes. the provision of better peak-hour services in Whitstable and Herne Bay and the introduction of regular timings in each hour.

.People in the Herne Bay area had been complaining bitterly about irregular services. th;: bunching of buses because of uneven timings and had asked East Kent to provide direct links between Herne Bay and the railway station. The new services include certain limited-stop journeys between Canterbury and Whitstable. It is understood that the

set-vices are going pretty well, although some complaints have been received about children getting home late from school. Officials of the company are keeping the situation under review and any modifications will be introdueed as

necessary.

It is interesting to note that where buses are designed to connect with trains, bus crews have been asked to pay special attention to the making of these connections. They have been asked to give a reasonable time fur all intending passengers to hoard the bus after the arrival of a train, even at the expense of the hits leaving a few minuteslate. Crews have also been asked to assist passengers as much as possible so that the Irian, inevitable complaints from a few passengers will not impair the satisfactory operatic', of the exercise as a whole.
