Mr. H. E. Robson has been appointed chairman of the Traffic Commissioners and Licensing Authority for the Yorkshire area. He will replace Maj. F. S. Eastwood, who is to retire at the beginning of December after holding these appointments for 26 years. Mr. Robson, who is 57, took up his first appointment with the Ministry of Transport in 1946. He was then already experienced in transport matters, having previously served with the LNER and with the War Office, where he was assistant director of transportation. He has since spent 17 years at the Ministry of Transport headquarters in London. In 1963 Mr. Robson was appointed Transport Commissioner for Wales and Monmouthshire and is at present serving with the Welsh office.

Mr. H. Wellstood Baker, director and chief engineer of the Triplex Safety Glass Co. Ltd., has retired after more than 40 years service with the company.

He succeeds Mr. C. F. Collins, works foreman since 1959, who retires at the end of September after 42 years' service with the company. Mr. Butcher joined Southdown in 1924. Last year he was appointed as a technical assistant to the chief engineer, having previously been chargehand at Worthing_ Following the appointment of Mr. R. M. Robbins as a full-time member of the London Transport Board, Mr. F. E. Wilkins has been appointed chief public relations officer. Mr. Wilkins. who is 49, has been the Board's Press officer since April, 1962. He joined London Transport as a Press assistant in 1947 and was promoted to senior executive assistant. and made deputy to the Press officer in 1949. He became principal executive assistant in 1959.

Mr. D. P. Drew, at present secretary] accountant of South Wales Transport Co. Ltd. and of Thomas Bros. (Port Talbot) Ltd., has been appointed general manager of Rhondda Transport Co. Ltd. in succession to Mr. F. A. Mason, who will shortly be taking up an appointment outside the bus industry. Mr. Drew was articled with a firm of chartered accountants and in 1946 became accountant to Skytravel Ltd. After subsequent employment with chartered accountants until 1955. he became accountant of South Wales Transport and of Thomas Bros.

Mr. Tom Wild, who was with the Burlingham/Duple repair section at Blackpool for 37 years. has now joined Busmar Ltd. as manager. in charge of all coachwork and repairs, Mr. Robert Kirton has been appointed assistant freight sales manager of Thoresen Car Ferries Ltd. Mr. Derrick B. Griffin has been appointed technical representative of Metal Sections Ltd., Oldbury. a Tube Investments Ltd. company, in the northeastern area. The joint managing and sales director of the British Steel Frame Co. Ltd. and Windows (BSF) Ltd. is now Mr. R. D. Sheret. Mr. John W. Knight has been appointed sales manager of their marine and commercial division.

Mr. W. G. Greenhow has been appointed India Tyres Ltd. sales representative for the area of east Glasgow, north Lanarkshire and Stirlingshire in succession to Mr. J. McEwing, who has retired. Mr. Greenhow joined the company in 1952 and was appointed assistant to sales manager (Scotland and Northern Ireland) in 1957.

Mr. P. E. Drake has been appointed by ICI (Hyde) as sales representative to the transport industry in southern England and South Wales, He will be engaged in promoting sales of numerous products produced by ICI (Hyde) for the interior trim of p.s.v, Mr. Drake will be operating from ICI's London sales office, 81-87 High Holborn, London.
