THE BODYWORK EXHIBITS

Advance Particulars, Concisely and Alphabetically Arranged, of the Different Types of Goods and Passenger Bodies to be Displayed at Olympia by Coachbuilding Concerns —Anthony Hoists, Ltd., Minerva Road, London;N.W.10.

BEADLE Stand 130 Maintenance and Appearance Well Considered in a Double-decker

ALUMINIUM PLANT Stand 117

Examples of Weight Saving in Tankers I NDICATING the way in which weight reduction is effected in tanker construction there will be on this stand a 1,200-gallon three-compartment aluminium tank mounted on an Albion 4f-ton chassis. The exhibit will stress the distinct advance which has been made in the ratio of Pay-load to unladen weight in connection with tankers; the actual weight of this vehicle is under 50 cwt.

Also in the 30 m.p.h. class will be a second exhibit comprising a 1,200gallon four-compartment aluminium tank mounted on a Dodge 4-ton longwheelbase chassis. This is an unusually interesting type, because loot valves and the usual type of outlet and outlet piping are dispensed with. The shell is, in fact, a sealed container and the liquid cannot accidentally escape, even if it be in an inverted position. Discharge of the contents is effected by a siphon arrangement. The design is, as yet, in an experimental stage, but will well repay close inspection.— The Aluminium Plant and Vessel Co., Ltd., Point Pleasant, Wandsworth, London, S.W.18.

ANTHONY HOISTS Stand 139 Two Interesting Types of Hoist

ANEWCOMER to the tipping-gear field, this concern will exhibit an example of its No. 1 slant-type hoist with a 6-in, diameter cylinder. This unit will he mounted on a Dodge 2-ton chassis, and particular features to note are its pipeless construction and the automatic. shaker. This unit takes about 10 secs. to tip. There will also be a Studebaker chassis on view with a No. 35 cam-type hoist. This unit is also pipeless, and is extremely rapid in operation.

A cut-away cylinder and pump will be displayed to show the complete mechanism and working of the hoist. IN the building of the 52-seater double-deck body to be shown by this concern, special attention has been given to appearance, ease of cleaning and maintenance. It is of standard composite construction and embodies tubular seats of Beadle make.' The company also intends to show a 32seater coach body en a T.S.M. chassis. It is of the front-entrance type, with a. sloping floor, the idea being to giVe ample space for luggage at the rear. The sliding roof is of the rigid-panel type.—John C. Beadle (Coachbuilders), Ltd., Lowfield Street, Dartford.

The body measures 13 ft. long and 7 ft. wide, and has fixed panelled sides 2 ft. deep.

A Bedford 3-ton short-wheelbase chassis will carry a three-way tipping body having a sheet-steel floor. It has plain side doors, hinged at the bottom, which fall level with the floor when the load is being discharged, so as to clear the rear wheels when side tipping. A 4-ton body for use in conjunction with the B. and E. heavy-duty universal end-tipping gear will be shown on a Dodge chassis. The front panel has a recessed insert, which enables the loading board to be carried as close as possible to the cab.

The exhibit will be completed by a Commer chassis carrying a 5-ton endtipping body, and a Thornycroft chassis on which is mounted a threeway tipping body of similar capacity. — Br(=flow and Edwards, Ltd., Foundry Street, Bolton.

WILSONS Stand 26 Two Trade Vans and a Lorry Based on Dodge Chassis

DODGE chassis will be used to emphasize the merits of the body products of this concern, which acts as a main dealer for this make of chassis. The body is 15 ft. long behind the driver's cab, 6 ft. 10 ins. wide and 7 ft. 6 ins. high. A standard boxvan body will be shown on a normal-control 2-tonner, a feature being the roller shutter at the rear.

The third exhibit will be of special interest, by reason of the fact that the drop-sided lorry body is arranged to be tipped through the medium of a Clayton Dewandre hydraulic gear. The 4-cubic-yd. body has a steel-lined floor and will be mounted on a 4-ton forward control chassis. — Wilsons (Kingston), Ltd., 20, High Street, Kingston-on-Thames.
