Ken Devereux. director, says: "Some of our customers regularly review the base cost of diesel, but others haven't changed it in years and prefer just to pay the surcharges. It makes it slightly complicated, but all our customers understand the need for it. I know many people say you cannot claim back fuel charges, but I think it's a minority of firms these days that do not understand the necessity.
"Some customers prefer to pay by the FTA John Hall spot price because it's an independent figure. If they have several different transport suppliers we may all be paying slightly different rates for fuel and buying it in different ways. So it is an advantage to customers to have one independent price from which their surcharges are calculated."
