TWO new recording instruments are shortly to be marketed by Speedometers (PerManent Record), Ltd., 68, Victoria Street, London, S.W.1. Mr. E. M. janitch, who has had wide experience in the design and manufacture of recorders, is managing director of the new company, and the instruments will be of British design and manufacture.
An interesting vibrator recorder provides automatically all timekeeping details as • required • by the • driver's hours regulations, and it is notable for an extended chart record which increases the linear length in relation to time to approximately four to five times that of the usual recorder. Short stops are easily discernible and may quickly be measured. An ingenious mechanism reduces wear on the stylus point and bearing.
The second machine is electrically operated and current consumption it is claimed, negligible, as contact is only intermittent. Springs have been eliminated wherever possible and wear minimized.
Both types provide for automatic chart setting, obviating the need for rotating the chart until its correct setting is found; a first-cIass British clock movement is incorporated. Prices, we understand, will be competitive.
