According to David Collett, MD at Halifax-based Collett Heavy Transport, the truck he has a particular soft spot for is MAN’s V8-engined TGX XXL 8x4 tractor.
Collett says that while he believes other manufacturers also produce excellent, powerful machines, the TGX with 680hp on tap, as well as ultra-smooth automatic transmission, makes particularly light work of heavy jobs.
He adds: “As you would expect, build quality is excellent and feedback from the drivers is always positive. The MAN is the mainstay of our fleet because it’s so dependable.” For Collett, one of the key strengths of the TGX – plated at 250 tonnes – is its versatility.
