VOLKSWAGEN HAS formalised its approved van conversion offering with a new dual-level scheme, marketed as the 'Engineered for You' and 'Engineered to Go' programmes.

Engineered for You is an accreditation process for the more bespoke conversions; it provides an approved list of converters that meet VW's commercial and technical requirements, backed up by an FTA inspection. The list currently includes about 20 accredited converters; VW has plans to boost this to 30.

Engineered to Go is a range of more popular off-the-shelf conversions, likely to be available from stock and sold under a single invoice. Initially, Crafter CR35based dropside, tipper and Luton van bodies are available. sourced from Ingimex and Boalloy.

They will be covered by a single three-year 'bumper-to-bumper' warranty. The 67 dedicated VW Van Centres will share a central demonstrator fleet, Sample prices range from an 87hp single-cab MWB dropside at £20,135 to a 161hp LWB Luton at £25,760 (ex-VAT).
