• When the former drivers started work with Macaskill there were no formal contracts—they were simply told that their hours were "as and when required" and there was a flat rate of 1225 per week.

Malcolm Macleod says that originally his wage slips showed 40 hours worked with a payment of 8,225. But when he complained that he had worked more than 80 hours that week the wage slips were changed to show one hour at £225.

Macaskill now asks his drivers to sign a written contract which states that "hours of work are Monday to Sunday as and when required". The wage is described as £225 per week rising to 1255 per week if loading on a Saturday or Sunday.
