Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Hauliers face a summer of discontent with diesel prices increasing by at least another two or three pence per litre at the pump.

That is the opinion of fuel management firm PHH which warns that increases in the price of crude oil earlier in the year are only now starting to affect both petrol and diesel pump prices.

And we don't really see any reason why bulk diesel should be any different," says PHH's business development manager Paul Vanags.

However, the Freight Transport Association predicts that bulk diesel prices should only rise by about one pence per litre in the short term because bulk prices are often not subject to the same influences as pump prices.
