Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Cumbria-based haulier John Irving has been forced to close its doors, blaming spiralling diesel prices.

The company went into voluntary liquidation on May 26 with the loss of 18 jobs.

John Irving, which ran a mixed 18-vehicle fleet of MANs, Scanias and Volvos was involved in general haulage, tanker work and storage. In its time it held contracts with Eastman Kodak, which it lost more than a year ago, and Albright & Wilson.

The company denied the closure had anything to do with the loss of the Kodak contract instead putting it down to "high diesel prices with no increase in rates".
