A FORMER HAULAGE company boss has combined his two passions to create a mobile home for him and his wife that is disguised as a timber truck.
Ian Murdoch, 69, has fitted out the trailer on his 35-year-old Atkinson Borderer with a fiveberth caravan, complete with kitchen and living room. He originally planned to build a log cabin on the back, but realised that was too big a project so bought the caravan and put that on the back nstead. He then used spruce logs to conceal the caravan, creating the illusion of a timber-carrying truck.
Murdoch, who ran Castle Douglas-based ai Murdoch Contractors until he retired, takes the lorry to vintage vehicle shows across the UK and surprises onlookers when he reveals the hidden entrance.
