Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

DYNAREET 211

U The original Dynafleet transport information system (CM 29 October 1998) was essentially the final stage in the development of the definitive product, which has now been released as Dynafleet 2.0. The modular system uses a combination of satellite tracking, cellular telephony and Windows-based computer software. Most of the system can be fitted to trucks of any make, but the engine data acquisition is restricted to engines which meet the SAE open protocol for data transfer, which currently means Volvo and the Americans.

THE MEE

• The basic truck system is the Logger Tool, which simply acts as a data recording system. it fits in a standard DIN radio housing on the truck's dashboard. Driver information is stored on a smart card which is inserted into a slot on the unit's face, while vehicle information is stored in the unit's memory for downloading at a later date.

The next vehicle module is the Communication Tool, which adds a neat cordless keyboard for two-way communication.

Details of orders and loading status can be communicated, and assistance requests can be routed directly to Volvo's Action Service call centre or any other specified location. Thanks to the satellite tracking the driver doesn't even have to know where he is.

The final module is the Information Tool, which adds a fully integrated 5in colour screen which displays maps and traffic information.

II The Transport Manager programme provides the link

between the transport office and the truck on the road. Traffic office staff can allocate vehicles, transmit and receive load status information and even produce invoices. Various levels of access are available for operators and supervisors. Workshop needs are catered for by the Logger Manager module, which handles all of the vehicle-based data. Both modules are capable of highly detailed and customised reporting functions, covering every aspect of the truck's operation.
