Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

The last Manheim sale of the year saw brisk action and high prices across the board.

The year's final HGV sale at Manheim Auctions in Leeds finished on a high with plenty of impressive vehicles.mainly split between tractors and late model 73-tormers, but there were a couple of surprises.

In al1,75 of the 127 HGVs that went under the hammer were sold. fetching a total of £470.000 (ex-VAT).Top of the list was a sixmonth-old 6x2 Mercedes-Benz Actros 2546 with a MegaSpace cab and 38,000km on the clock. Big cab and big engine set-ups are rare on the open market and this keenly contested vehicle finally went under the hammer for £43,500 (ex-VAT).

The main action was centred on latemodel 7.5-tonners, and two '02-plated Iveco 75E17s with a 20ft boxes, and Tector engines led the way. They had relatively low mileage and sold for £10,700 and £10,050 (both exVAT). An 02-plated Cargo 75E17 dropside with just 17,300km on the clock went for £10,950 (ex-VAT).

Retail dream

It wasn't all Italian stock, of course, and several Mercedes products attracted a lot of attention. An '02-plated Atego 815 with a fridge and personalised number plate sold for £16,500 (ex-VAT) while another 815 with a 22ft flatbed body went for £12,100 (ex-VAT).To complete the hat-trick an 818 with a 22ft curtain-sided body fetched £13,500 (ex-VAT).

Fleet tractors are still a mainstay of the auction scene and a pair of T-reg '98-plated Renault Premium 6x2 385s went through at £8.900 and £9,000 (exVAT). A 2000-plated Nee° EuroTech 440E35 6x2 with almost 600.000krn on the clock fetched £6,300 (ex-VAT).Two '99-plated Actros 2540 with sleeper cabs went under the hammer for £9,900 and £9,950 (ex-VAT).

There were plenty of decent utility vehicles on offer including several de-commissioned fire engines from local authorities and a library truck from South Yorkshire.

Just to show that it's not all about nearly new stock, a 1997-plated ERF EC11 4x2 tractor with a sleeper cab had 660,000km on the clock. It was tested to July 2004 and found a new home for £3,000 (ex-VAT).

That was topped by a 1989-plated (F-reg) 8x4 93M.250 Scania with a three-year-old tipper body that went under the hammer for £5,700 ex-VAT). s
