A 1 RUCK DRIVER has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after his vehicle collided with two cars on the M5. killing a man.

The incident happened at 1.25pm on 16 December between Junctions 11 a and 12 at Upton St Leonards in Gloucestershire.

A Renault Megane and a Volvo were in a collision with the truck before hitting the central reservation. The driver of the Renault, a 25-year-old woman, was treated in hospital and later discharged. Her passenger, a 33-year-old Gloucester man, was taken to Cheltenham General Hospital by air ambulance but later died from the injuries he had sustained in the crash.

The trucker and the driver of the Volvo were not injured.

A spokeswoman for Gloucestershire police says: -The motorway was closed for over five hours as police investigators examined the scene. The truck driver, a 22year-old man from Humberside, has been released on police bail until March. Any witnesses should contact us."
