• A Surrey truck driver caught smuggling cannabis resin worth £500,000 has been jailed for seven years. Driver Michael Simms of Green Lane, Sunburyon-Thames, told Canterbury Crown Court he knew nothing of the 153kg of resin Dover Customs officers found hidden in the sides of his trailer.
Finding Simms guilty, the Recorder told him that he had made up a story about bringing empty trailers back into the UK in an attempt to explain the journeys.
