An operator whose trucks were confiscated wants to

get back on the road. Peter Swingler reports.

A CAR TRANSPORTER firm owner who had two trucks confiscated after running his business without an 0-licence will appear before the West Midlands Traffic Commissioner again in April in a bid to get back on the road.

Israr Rahim, who runs Adam Car Transporting of Tyseley, Birmingham, will apply for an 0licence and ask for the return of his trucks. This was revealed by Dominic Green, appearing for Vosa during a court case last Thursday before the Solihull magistrates.

A former driver of Rahim's, Stanislaw Jaworeoki, who slept rough in one of Rahim's trucks while working for him, was fined £200 after he admitted not using a tachograph. Photographs showing Jaworeoki's living conditions in the truck were shown to the magistrates by Green.

District Judge Nigel Cadbury said Rahim was to blame for Jaworecki being prosecuted.

Rahim had been fined £900 with £380 costs at a previous Solihull court hearing after admitting having no 0-licence or excise licence, using an 0-licence with intent to deceive, using a vehicle without a test certificate, fraudulently using an 0-licence disc, having an inadequate tachograph record and permitting a driver to use a vehicle without a tachograph.
