GreenChem admits it was slow to capitalise on

AdBlue's introduction. Julian Milnes reports.

A MAJOR UK and European supplier and producer of AdBlue admits there have been significant problems over the take-up of the additive in the UK.

GreenChem cites the combination of a negative press by EGR manufacturers and a lack of availability from oil companies for delaying the growth of a larger supply infrastructure.

Managing directorTeun de Bruijn admits that GreenChem was caught out during the introduction phase where promoting its range of services and educating potential users were concerned.

However, he believes take-up will increase in the future, helping to develop the supply chain.

The company estimates that 80% of users will fill up at their bases.

GreenChem's only production plant in the UK, at Mold in Wales, is scheduled to be joined by a plant in Newcastle at the end of this year. Meanwhile, there are plans for a 'Blue Card' payment system to be introduced for on-road deliveries at CV fuelling points, including designated truckstops.
