Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Hundreds of distribution jobs have been safeguarded following car giant Nissan's decision to build the new Micra in Sunderland instead of France.

After months of uncertainty about the long-term future of the plant. distribution operators can now expect increased work with annual car production set to rise from 330.000 to 500.000.

Ryder, which delivers Nissan components along with Exel and Ferguson's Transport. employs nearly 80 drivers on this contract. Tibbett & Britten sub

sidiary Axial employs nearly 40 drivers on the car delivery contract it shares with Richard Lawson Group.

Ryder marketing director John Wisdom says: "I am sure all our staff employed on this contract feel considerably more secure than they did prior to the announcement."

And an Axial spokesperson says: -In the fullness of time we will have to take on more people. but it won't happen for a couple of years yet."

Production of the new Micra will begin late next year.
