NVQ Level 2 awards have been earned by Scottish & Newcastle drivers who completed an employee-led scheme. In all 30 out of the 42 drivers at the Wednesbury depot won their NVO 2 qualification in Driving Goods Vehicles.

The course,which began in February. was led by two of the depot's drivers, Richard Brewer and Dave England. working with Targeted Training Services (TIS). Both Brewer and England have a history of involvement with company training — they completed a six-month Al NVQ Assessor Award before beginning to train other drivers in-house.

Brewer explains: "The drivers, who have between two and 30 years' experience, say that it's helped them feel more professional about their job and also refreshed their memory."
